Tobii CEye Case Study - Mia Austin
This is the story of Mia Austin from Heswall; Mia has Locked in Syndrome following a devastating stroke, who has written her incredible story together with several poems using her Tobii C12 and CEye
“The nightmare began on the 16th November 2009, so I was just 21
I had a stroke on my bathroom floor and literally all of my body became completely paralysed, it was awful not being able to talk or move!
I was introduced to a really basic alphabet chart which was so slow and frustrating, so I never chatted or had conversations and only just had the patience to spell out key words.
Then after 18 months I was introduced to Tobii and RSLSteeper and it’s been absolutely fantastic since.
People joke because I am literally attached to it from morning to night!!
It’s my lifeline, I am like a normal 21 year old again, who spends every day texting, emailing and on facebook!!
The service has been amazing; everyone is so helpful and nice.
I am now so quick that I’ve even managed to write a book on it called ‘hot potato’ and I have even managed to go back to work at Co-op Travel Care one day each week doing bits.
It’s really changed my life, they obviously cost, but seriously worth every penny, because I use it that much!”
